LND perspectiveQualification

A company list is a starting point.

The same company can be a plausible partner for one initiative and a poor choice for another. Qualification begins with the job the relationship is expected to do.

LND EUROPE · Working method

Start with the decision, then define fit.

An industrial park looking for future tenants, a port developing cargo relationships, and an exhibition recruiting participants may all investigate European manufacturers. Their questions differ. A park needs to understand operating requirements and the plausibility of a location decision. A port needs to examine relevant trade flows and logistics requirements. An exhibition needs a credible match between the participant’s objectives and the event’s audience.

A shared company universe can support all three tasks. A shared conclusion cannot simply be assumed. Write down the objective, the offer, the relevant constraints, and the evidence that would justify a next step. Otherwise, familiar company names can substitute for a clear commercial argument.

Keep the fact separate from its interpretation.

Consider a hypothetical manufacturer with a public announcement about an export initiative. The announcement is a sourced fact. The idea that it may need a regional distribution partner is an interpretation. Its actual route to market, budget, and decision process may still be unknown. Each part belongs in the record with a different status.

A score can help organise attention, but it cannot remove those distinctions. A useful qualification note explains why the company merits investigation, which evidence supports that view, and what could overturn it. Missing information is a reason to ask a better question, not a fact to fill in with confidence.

Hand over an argument someone can use.

A practical handoff contains a concise company profile, the fit with this initiative, source references, relevant people or roles, open questions, and a recommended next step. Sales should be able to accept the case, return it for research, or explain why the proposed approach does not match what the team knows.

That feedback improves the qualification method. If a recurring constraint makes apparently attractive companies unsuitable, change the criteria and revisit similar cases. The purpose is to help the team allocate attention, with the reasoning available for review.

Reuse knowledge without flattening the context.

The durable asset is a company and industry knowledge base whose sources, dates, and uncertainty remain visible. Add a client-specific layer for the objective, qualification criteria, and decisions. Keep private contacts, correspondence, and commercial history within the client’s permissions.

This lets a new brief begin with relevant knowledge while still requiring fresh judgement. A company does not become universally qualified because it suited a previous project. Equally, rejecting it for one initiative should not erase a well-supported reason to consider it for another.
